Toluca, Estado de México.-En el marco del Día Internacional de los Pueblos Indígenas, la Secretaría de Cultura estatal invita a visitar la exposición “Lenguaje de la indumentaria femenina. Arte textil mazahua”.

Las obras que se presentan en esta muestra son elaboradas por las manos de mujeres mazahuas que han hecho de una tradición en sus comunidades, verdaderas obras de arte.

Ubicada en el Museo de Antropología e Historia (MAH) la exposición ha permitido al público asistente, desde su apertura en marzo, conocer los procesos que realizan las mazahuas para elaborar una prenda, y las historias que cada una de ellas cuenta.

Las artistas provienen de la comunicad de San Felipe Santiago, en el municipio de Villa de Allende, son poseedoras de este conocimiento del bordado gracias a la herencia generacional.

De tal forma, los asistentes pueden apreciar el bordado de dos agujas, así como el de hilvanado y pepenado, motivo de orgullo e identidad para el Estado de México a través de faldas, blusas, fajas, mandiles, morrales y cinco generaciones de quexquémetls en los que se aprecia el cambio de diseño que han incorporado y que muestra lo elegante y complejo de los bordados.

“Los bordados son un libro escrito con base de figuras y grecas que nos narran las costumbres y tradiciones de un pueblo”, comentó Isabel Quijano, Coordinadora de este proyecto de exhibición y venta del trabajo de las mujeres mazahuas, quienes guardan gran respeto a su indumentaria, le otorga significados concretos y le atribuye valores de acuerdo con sus usos y costumbres.

Los mexiquenses tendrán así la oportunidad de conocer y, si lo desean, adquirir, hasta el 7 de noviembre, algunas de estas piezas de arte textil que forman parte de la historia de esta comunidad del Estado de México.
