Atizapán, Estado de México.- Con más de 800 conejos como producción mensual, específicamente para el consumo humano, la Granja de conejos “Finca La Colorada”, ubicada en Santa Cruz Atizapán, Estado de México, es uno de los sitios cunicultores de la entidad que comercializa este producto de alto contenido proteínico.

Con el objetivo de promocionar la crianza de conejos en toda la entidad, el Gobierno del Estado de México promueve y apoya a los cunicultores mexiquenses a través de diversos programas como “Apoyo a productores para la puesta en marcha de Unidades Rosas para la Producción de Conejo”, entre otros apoyos como el de la capacitación, tecnificación e infraestructura.

“Mi esposo y yo empezamos con 20 conejas que nos vendieron en unos paquetes, teníamos bastante alfalfa y con eso las alimentábamos, posteriormente, tuvimos la necesidad de otro apoyo, llamamos a la Secretaría de Desarrollo Agropecuario (Sedagro) y nos apoyaron con la infraestructura de la granja, con las jaulas de batería y por mucho tiempo nos vinieron a capacitar grupos de extensionistas”, aseguró Regina Mancilla González, cunicultora de la región.

Según Regina, el tiempo de capacitación otorgado por la dependencia estatal duró entre dos y tres años, sin embargo, ella asegura que el tiempo de aprendizaje no se termina nunca, por lo que continuamente solicita a Sedagro el apoyo con  capacitaciones para mejorar sus procesos de producción.

“Yo recibí el apoyo de Sedagro, una institución que a mí me ha ayudado bastante y de igual forma yo tendría la oportunidad de poder capacitar a más gente que trabajara en esto de la cunicultura”, comenta Regina.

Actualmente, en “Finca La Colorada”, Regina produce entre 80 y 100 crías por semana y los alimenta de forma orgánica, con alimento que ellos mismos producen con alfalfa, maíz, avena y melasa.

“Otro de los beneficios brindados por Sedagro fue la donación de una peletizadora, una máquina que fabrica el alimento en forma de “churrito” y que consumen los conejos”, explica.

Regina agradeció al Gobierno del Estado de México por estos apoyos y exhortó a las autoridades a no dejar de apoyar a la cunicultura, pues aseguró que la carne de conejo, a la que calificó como el alimento del futuro, es rica en proteínas, sin grasa, saludable y con muchas propiedades alimenticias para el ser humano

“Es una carne magra que es alta en vitamina y proteína, tiene Omega 6 y Omega 7 y es polisaturada, es una maravilla la verdad, la carne de conejo es una maravilla, es ideal para la alimentación del ser humano, sería fabuloso que la incluyéramos en la canasta básica”, recomienda.

Cabe destacar que en lo que va de la administración del Gobernador Alfredo Del Mazo Maza, se han entregado a través de Sedagro un total de 850 apoyos de los programas Unidades de Producción de Conejo y Unidades Rosas de Producción de Conejos con una inversión de 6.8 mdp, para beneficiar a cunicultores mexiquenses.
