Promueve medio ambiente certificación forestal internacional para la protección de bosques del Edoméx

• Permite certificación forestal la certeza de adquirir productos provenientes de un bosque gestionado de manera sostenible.

Toluca, Estado de México, 25 de noviembre de 2018. La certificación es la validación por un tercero, que indica que se cumple con lo establecido en un programa de aprovechamiento forestal, y permite tener mejores mercados, afirmó el Secretario del Medio Ambiente, Jorge Rescala Pérez, al poner en marcha el Taller de Certificación Forestal Internacional en el Estado de México.

Con la presencia de representantes de asociaciones forestales, industriales y académicas, así como de ejidos y bienes comunales, el funcionario destacó que históricamente el Estado de México ha sido referente nacional en la preservación de masa forestal.

“Gracias a los servicios ambientales que los bosques nos regalan, la administración del Gobernador Alfredo Del Mazo sentó las bases para mantener a la entidad como un ejemplo de protección y cuidado del sector, por ello, ha instruido fortalecer e incrementar los programas de atención a los bosques, como el Fideicomiso para el Pago por Servicios Ambientales Hidrológicos del Estado de México (Fipasahem) y Programa de Reforestación y Restauración Integral de Microcuencas (Prorrim), así como el equipamiento e infraestructura de quienes de manera cotidiana cuidan los recursos forestales”.

Destacó que al recibir la certificación de organizaciones reconocidas, se fortalece el sector forestal y permite a los dueños y poseedores vivir dignamente.

Por su parte, el Director General de la Protectora de Bosques del Estado de México (Probosque) Edgar Conzuelo Contreras, destacó que la certificación forestal nos da la certeza de adquirir productos provenientes de un bosque gestionado de manera sostenible.

Agregó que en el Estado de México existen 130 millones de metros cúbicos de madera y a través de 471 programas de manejo, solamente se aprovechan 588 mil metros cúbicos, es decir, al año se autoriza el 4.5 por ciento de los árboles que están en pie.

“Es importante que la sociedad esté consciente de que la extracción del arbolado se realiza de acuerdo con una norma y un documento que se presentó ante la Semarnat y que se sigue al pie de la letra”.

Subrayó la presencia de 69 predios de la entidad interesados en adquirir los conocimientos necesarios para una gestión adecuada de sus bosques y certificar sus procesos con el fin de garantizar la autenticidad de sus productos, generando beneficios ambientales, económicos y sociales, así como asegurando los servicios ambientales que brindan los bosques.

En su intervención, el Director Ejecutivo de la Unión Nacional de Organizaciones de Forestería Comunal, AC (UNOFOC), Ramiro Robledo Márquez, afirmó que sólo a través de un manejo forestal sustentable y responsable se generan servicios ambientales como agua y captura de carbono, entre otros.

“En la UNOFOC tenemos 25 años trabajando con los productores de ejidos y comunidades y queremos que la sociedad sepa que realizamos manejos responsables, que cuidamos el bosque y la biodiversidad, asegurando que habrá bosques para toda la vida”, señaló.

El representante nacional de la certificadora FSC, Luis Alfonso Argüelles Suárez, detalló que en México existen cinco entidades certificadoras que impulsan el manejo de una etiqueta forestal que incluye un código de rastreo para que el consumidor conozca el manejo de la madera durante todo su proceso.

Dijo que el FSC acredita a las certificadoras y a través de ellas se evalúan los procesos y agregó que en México hay cinco licencias de certificación y 37 a nivel mundial.

“El FSC monitorea el trabajo de las certificadoras a fin de saber si cumplió con los lineamientos, garantizando las funciones económicas, sociales y ecológicas de los bosques, ya que cuando una tercera parte revisa quiere decir que todo está en orden”.

En el evento, se entregaron cinco certificados de Adecuado Cumplimiento en el Manejo Forestal a ejidos y bienes comunales y reconocimientos a los prestadores de servicios técnicos forestales.
